AFRICA – (AfricaNewswire.net) --  The Bayer Foundation Women Entrepreneurs Award, powered by the Impact Hub Network, honours fifteen women from Latin America, Africa, and Asia addressing critical challenges in global healthcare and food security.

Five women from Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Morocco make up the 2026 Africa cohort. Their ventures span AI-powered cardiac diagnostics, digital healthcare, food processing and water-efficient agriculture, demonstrating the potential of women-led innovation to address challenges facing underserved communities.

What the African winners are solving

Dr. Alice Muhuhu of Aurora Health Systems in Kenya has built AI-powered, offline-capable ECG devices that detect more than 50 cardiac conditions in low-resource clinics, bringing accurate diagnosis to patients who would otherwise have no access to it. In Ethiopia, Beamlak Alemayehu’s Medanit Digital Health has launched the country’s first multi-channel digital health platform, reaching patients through app, web, and a national health short code. In Nigeria, Funmilayo Ishola’s Dehydrator Hub has developed solar-powered food processing infrastructure that turns post-harvest waste into export-ready ingredients; also in Nigeria, Omowunmi Christine Emmanuel-Ogah’s ExCare Health has converted community pharmacies into integrated primary care hubs offering diagnostics, vaccines, and medication under one roof. In Morocco, Sokayna Bellam’s Jodoor is using hydroponic farming to cut water use by 80%, offering a model built for climate-stressed farmland across the region.

Supporting women entrepreneurs to scale

Each 2026 winner receives a €25,000 cash prize and a six-month accelerator focused on investor readiness, business fundamentals and impact measurement. This support comes at a critical time, as Africa faces major healthcare and food security gaps, while women entrepreneurs continue to face significant funding barriers. Since 2021, the Bayer Foundation has supported women-led health and food-security enterprises through non-dilutive funding, networks and structured pathways to growth. Delivered with the Impact Hub Network, the programme combines capital with local entrepreneurial networks, mentorship and support designed to help founders scale.
